Not asking about the removable memory. I took it to couple of computer repair shop. One said the power jack had gone bad and the other said battery had gone bad and they both gave me huge amount of estimate. I did the diagnostic test and the battery health seems to be fine. It could be that the test really is testing the RAM and that the software was designed to run 4 separate threads simultaneously to speed things up and I tend to believe that but would like to hear it from Dell-unless you already know the answer.
